What are PanOptix lenses?

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) can replace natural lenses removed in cataract surgery. PanOptix is a highly-advanced intraocular lens that corrects vision for near, intermediate, and far distances, all without glasses or contacts. What should I expect with a PanOptix lens placement procedure?

Your cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure performed with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. The procedure takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes, but you will be at our facility for a few hours. During surgery, you can expect to feel only slight pressure and no discomfort. The surgeon makes a tiny incision with a femtosecond laser, then uses an ultrasonic instrument to emulsify your natural lens. The lens material is aspirated out of the eye through a tiny incision. Then the surgeon implants the PanOptix trifocal lens.

What is recovery like after cataract surgery with PanOptix lenses?

Although some people have improved vision immediately after the procedure, it is reasonable to expect to have blurred vision for a few days. You may experience some discomfort, which should subside in a day or two after surgery. There are very few restrictions during your recovery, except to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for one week, or as instructed by your doctor.
