Dr. James Khodabakhsh, MD, is well known as the leading refractive and cataract surgeon in Southern California. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, he has achieved recognition as an authority in advanced eye surgery in Torrance. At the Beverly Hills Institute of Ophthalmology, Dr. Khodabakhsh offers exceptional personalized care for the individual patient. Dr. Khodabakhsh is presently the Clinical Chief of Ophthalmology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center which is consistently ranked as one of the top centers in the US.
Dr. Khodabakhsh completed his medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He completed residency training at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He then pursued further subspecialty surgical training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Upon completion of training, Dr. Khodabakhsh joined the faculty of New York Medical College as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology.
He is a pioneer in the field of premium cataract surgery and was one of the first surgeons in the world to use femtosecond laser technology for cataract removal. He is also consistently one of the first users of the newest premium intraocular lens implants. He is a consultant, key opinion leader, and speaker for most major ophthalmic companies including Bausch and Lomb, Johnson and Johnson, Alcon, Zeiss, Merck, Novartis, Shire, and Sun Pharmaceuticals. He has performed numerous clinical trials and is presently engaged in 3 separate FDA trials for cataract surgery and dry eyes.
Dr. Khodabakhsh is also a prolific author, and his publications have been highlighted in several leading ophthalmic publications, including The American Journal of Ophthalmology. He is a highly-regarded national and international lecturer on anterior segment eye disease and refractive surgery.
